This is not to say that people were not watching the Cubs win9-8 today, they were, but it didn’t look to me like most people were watching as intently as they do during the regular season. I only saw one person actually keep score today, which was a real trial as there were 46 different players in today’s game! Keeping a scorecard is a real challenge with so many different players!
While the Twins suffered the losses of most of their bullpen in the off season, the Sox feel they improved their bullpen. The talent is certainly there for Beckham to improve on last years . 252 avg., 9 home runs, 49 RBI line. Right fielder Alex Rios had a solid year last season, hitting . 284 with 21 homeruns, 88 runs batted in and 34 stolen bases.
Nunez also played a large role in the Yankees scoring their first run of the night. With Chris Stewart at the plate, runners on the corners, and two outs, manager Joe Girardi ordered up a double steal with Nunez on first and Vernon Wells on third. Nunez went halfway to second base, forcing a throw down and allowing Wells to slip in under the relay back to the plate. Nunez would head safely into second.
Unfortunately for the White Sox, none of these players jumps out as an enticing option to pick up Peavy’s early-season starts. But as long as Peavy doesn’t miss too big a portion of the early part of the season, a few starts from Harrell, Humber, Nunez, etc. probably won’t seriously hurt the team’s chances at making it back to the playoffs.

Cleveland scored in the second on a fielder’s choice by Trevor Crowe and a fielding error by White Sox starter Edwin Jackson, Crowe stole his 20th base of the season but was left stranded. Crowe’s 20 stolen bases gives Cleveland two with 20 steals. He joins Shin-Soo Choo.
