The Yankees Are Ruining Baseball Only For Their Own Fans

Hitting with runners in scoring position with less than two outs, hitting into a high number of double plays, and not throwing runners out at second are just a few of the simple tasks they struggle with. So far the Sox have beaten themselves in many games, but if a few key players step it up the sky is the limit.

While the Twins suffered the losses of most of their bullpen in the off season, the Sox feel they improved their bullpen. Key to that improvement is the acquisition of Jesse Crain from the rival Twins. sale jerseys, in his second season after impressing in his rookie campaign last year, will serve as a set up man to closer Matt Thorton. The Sox let former closer Bobby Jenks leave to go to the Boston Red Sox. They also lost Scott Linebrink to the Atlanta Braves. But with Sergio Santos, Tony Pena, and Jeff Marquez, the Sox feel that their bullpen will be a strength as the season goes on.

With a roster spot open, the Sox then called up outfielder Alejandro De Aza. He had an immediate impact with the Sox. In his first at bat of the season, De Aza hit a two-run homerun as the White Sox defeated the Tigers 2-1. John Danks struck out 10 in picking up his 4th win of the season and Santos got his 21st save. With the win, the Sox moved to 51-52, 1 1/2 games behind the Cleveland Indians and just 3 1/2 behind the Tigers. The Sox now get a day off in preparation for their big weekend series against the A.L. East leading Boston Red Sox. Gavin Floyd (8-9) will face Tim Wakefield (6-3).

Detroit’s offense is significantly more potent so far thus season, scoring 41 runs, second in the majors. Chicago has put up just 24 runs, but still remains only a half game back of the Tigers.

19. Seattle Mariners – Are the Mariners ready to contend in the AL West? I think they are short a bunch of pieces, but who knows what their GM believes after holding onto so many veterans at the trade deadline.

The Tigers averaged 37.7 total chances per game, while the Cardinals averaged 39.1 and the Yankees averaged 36.5. The teams with the least number of total chances include the Diamondbacks, Rays, Giants, Marlins, Brewers, and Yankees.

Replays on television showed that the ball landed a few rows in fall territory. The umpires working that game didn’t get a chance to see that, though, because of Major League Baseball not having any replay system institutionalized. In the long run the loss didn’t hurt the Tribe. The Indians are headed to the playoffs as AL Central Division champs.

Letting this all soak in, I sat down, leaned against the fence and watched people around me. What i saw throughout the game was more of a social atmosphere. If that was because it was MY first Spring Training game this year, or how it always is, I’ll find out on Friday, but I believe there is more of a social atmosphere, at least in left field, than in the left field bleachers at Wrigley. One friend even commented on that to me.
